Suspect nabbed in Bedfordview with illicit goods, tries to bribe police

Suspect attempts to bribe police officers with R80 000 after being found with illicit goods.

On December 10 at 13:00, members of the Johannesburg Organised Crime Unit, acting on information received from the Johannesburg Inquiry, arrested a suspect found in possession of illicit goods.

According to Bedfordview SAPS communication liaison officer Sergeant Lillian Modiga, the arrest took place along Arterial Road in Bedfordview.

The suspect, a 42-year-old African male driving a white Land Rover, was stopped and searched. Officers discovered illicit goods inside the vehicle.

“During the arrest, the suspect attempted to bribe police officers with R80 000 in cash. He was detained at Bedfordview SAPS for further investigation,” Modiga said.

Police investigations are continuing.
