EMPD arrests two for drunk driving in Edenvale

Breathalyser tests were conducted, yielding readings of 0.77 mg/1000ml and 0.25 mg/1000ml, both exceeding the legal limit.

EMPD officers from the Edenvale Precinct recently arrested two suspects.

The two men were arrested for driving under the influence of an intoxicating substance in the Edenvale area.

While conducting routine law enforcement duties, officers observed two minibus taxis failing to stop at a stop sign.

The vehicles were stopped, and the drivers were informed of the reason for the stop.

During the interaction, officers detected a strong smell of alcohol on both drivers’ breath.

Breathalyser tests were conducted, yielding readings of 0.77 mg/1000ml and 0.25 mg/1000ml, both exceeding the legal limit.

The suspects were escorted to a registered nurse for blood sample collection and subsequently detained at the Edenvale Police Station.

The duo are facing charges of driving under the influence of an intoxicating substance and is expected to appear before the Edenvale Magistrate’s Court soon.
