Celebrating 50 golden years of love

Eleanor Lorraine (71) and Louis Rodrigeus Sequeira (77) celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, August 10.

Both were born and raised in Benoni, and met after being set up on a blind date, after which they were married in 1963.

“From the moment he walked in I knew he was the one,” said Eleanor about their first date.

The Sequeiras celebrated their anniversary with a dinner at Fahrenheit restaurant, in Farrarmere.

When asked for their secret to making their marriage a long, solid and happy one, Eleanor said that you have got to give and take.

“It is important to rely on each other,” she added.

Their children are: Sharlene de la Rey and her husband Pieter, Bryan Sequeira and his wife Louise, and Lorraine Ladbrooke and her husband Eric.

They also have seven granddaughters — Jolandie de la Rey, Mariska de la Rey, Shana Sequeira, Ashlin Sequeira, Eleanor Ladbrooke, Diane Ladbrooke and Angela Ladbrooke.
