Young designer in awards finals

Benoni's own Mosebo Surprise Matsepe is a finalist in the Annual Vukani Young Designers Awards.

This creative lass, from Crystal Park, is excited about the development and is looking forward to snatching an award.

She is among the 16 finalists who fulfilled the terms and conditions for entry in the story boards showcasing their comprehension of this year’s theme, “Trend setters setting trends: Back to Basics”.

She is inspired by colour and visual arts to design classy, sophisticated, yet youthful collections.

The 27-year-old completed her fashion diploma in 2010, at the Vaal University of Technology, and is still working on launching her fashion line.

In her collection she merge classic pieces with the latest trends to bring something fresh and new.

“I mixed casual, formal, couture, street and high fashion to create a range suitable enough for the modern woman,” she said.

She is currently designing garments for matric dances, special occasions and wedding dresses.

Ekurhuleni is the host city of this national awards ceremony.

It has again entered into a memorandum of understanding with the South African Fashion Designers Agency, to present the 19th Annual Vukani Young Designers Awards, Crafters Stakeholder Workshops and Crafters Exhibitions, starting on 20 August 2013.

The awards are set to take place on August 24, at Emperors Palace.
