Designer spectacle at Emperors

The annual Vukani Fashion Awards, a spectacle of striking clothes produced by young up-and-coming designers from across the country, was held at Emperors Palace, on Saturday, August 24.

The 19th edition of the awards, with the theme “trend setters setting trends: back to basics,” did not disappoint fashion lovers.

Although Crystal Park resident Mosebo Matsepe was one of the 14 finalists at the awards, she did not manage to scoop an award at the showcase.

The top award went to Katlehong resident Luthando Mbobo, who won the Best Ready-to-wear collection.

Fabian Kevin Ah-Sing and Anchonay Louw won the Most Innovative Designer and Best High Fashion Design awards, respectively.

The awards give young-up-and-coming designers the opportunity to showcase their design talents and an opportunity to receive exposure into business through its mentorship programmes.
