
The resident said that, in May, he was allowed 6kl, which was reduced to 4kl in June, and then increased to 8kl in July, and reduced to 4kl in August.
He referred to the edition of Ekurhuleni Speaks enclosed with the August statements, which states that for 2013/14, the free water and sewage deductions for normal households is, and will remain at 6kl, until next the budget.
The metro said water and sewer consumption is charged on kilolitres registered by the meter and that, in a 30-day reading period, a consumer will qualify for six free kilolitres.
“However, if the period is shorter than 30 days, the consumer will qualify for four free kilolitres and, if the reading period is longer than 30 days, the free kilolitres will be more than six,” explained metro spokesman Samuel Modiba.
