Brandon experiences discomfort

People have just less than a month to mobilise and enter the Lakeside Mall Survivor Challenge Day.

The event, which will be held at the mall from October 25 to 27, is in aid of Laerskool Rynfield pupil and double-amputee Brandon Menezes (13).

The funds raised at the charity event will go towards Brandon’s new prosthetic legs, as he has started outgrowing the old ones.

He is starting to show signs of discomfort and has resorted to wearing his legs only to school, and his blades everywhere else.

Brandon’s mother, Charlene Potgieter, said he is getting too heavy for the legs’ knees.

The knees can support only a certain mass, and they have become unstable and do not swivel as fast as they should, causing him to stumble.

Lakeside Mall marketing assistant Lee-Anne van der Nest is again urging people to unite and enjoy a fun day in aid of charity.

Various spot prizes will be handed out on the challenge days, as well as a hot air balloon ride in the Magaliesberg for the winning business team, a train trip to Cullinan for the family team winners and a day spent at Gold Reef City for six school children and an educator in the school category.

For more information, contact van der Nest on 011 427 1801, or email to marketinglakesidemall@growthpoint.co.za

People can also enter at the Lakeside Mall customer care kiosk.
