HPCSA opposes action taken against it
The Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) will oppose the application which was brought against it in the North Gauteng High Court, several weeks ago.

The application was presented to the court by attorney Gary Austin, on behalf of four people who allegedly underwent substandard procedures by Benoni plastic and reconstructive surgeon Dr Luke Gordon.
The court papers and affidavits are an attempt to compel the council to take harsher action against Gordon.
On September 20, the spokesperson for the HPCSA, Bertha Peters-Scheepers, said Gordon has had 15 cases against him, dating back to 1995.
Austin will have the opportunity to submit a response the HPCSA’s written opposition, where after the court will have to set a date for the hearing.
