Indulge in exotic tastes at Mozambik
My recent dining experience at Mozamkik restaurant is one that makes my mouth water all over again, just thinking back about it.
I was instantly in love with the tropical, relaxing vibe of the restaurant.
This had my mind unwinding to thoughts of the Mozambican sun, accompanied by the sounds of waves crashing to the shore, and this feeling was rounded off with a delicious, fruity mojo jam jar cocktail.
Indulging in my main course of baby calamari, I was certain that seafood is where Mozambik’s commitment to perfection lies.
This was until my companion shared a bite of his baby chicken with me, which was succulent, juicy and deliciously seasoned with mild flavours, convincing me that Mozambik is a jack of all cooking trades.
My dish was made up of grilled calamari tubes and tentacles, basted with lemon and butter and accompanied by creamy, soft mashed potatoes.
The calamari was fresh, delicious and perfectly cooked.
My companion said that the baby chicken was tender and juicy: “It was delicious; I thought the flavour of spices and marinade they used was a really good blend.”
Our delightful meals were accompanied by excellent service.
Our waitress was Sizy Ncube, who was quick to attend to our needs and wore a warm smile throughout the evening.
The restaurant’s atmosphere is fantastic, with light, exotic background music setting the mood.
Whether you want to have a romantic night out, or a fun time for the whole family, Mozambik provides the “happy” feel which caters for both.
It has recently undergone a few renovations, enhancing its Mozambican feel with the aim of creating a unique eating out experience.
As part of this conversion, the colour scheme has been brightened with warm colours, with new, matching décor adding to the exotic feel.
Manager of the restaurant Marshall Kabanda said Mozambik currently has a lot of specials on offer and he promised to accommodate any taste requirements.
“As long as we have the ingredients, we will make it,” he said.
The restaurant also has an outer deck area if you are one for a cool breeze in which to enjoy a beer with your friends.
Mozambik has started producing its own beer and Marshall encourages customers to try it.
The restaurant is situated on Lakefield Avenue, in Lakefield, and is open every day for lunch and dinner.
This was a delicious experience which I will happily relive again.TB
