On June 11, a woman was walking into the Lakeside Mall with her handbag hanging on her shoulder when someone snatched it and ran towards Bunyan Street.
“The handbag contained the victim’s cellphone, bank cards and other items,” said Benoni police spokesperson Lieut Nomsa Sekele.
Somehow, the suspect managed to find the victim’s bank code and withdrew money from an ATM in Lakefield.
When the woman checked her WhatsApp account, she noticed that her profile picture had been replaced with a picture of the suspected robber.
