Efthalia Christie will be remembered

Efthalia Eleni Christie, a long time Benoni resident, passed away on Saturday, June 14.

She was born on October 13, 1949, and lived at “The Pink House”, the property which now houses Northmead Square.

She attended Rynfield Primary School and then Benoni High School.

“When not in school, Lea was an avid horse rider and excelled in theatrical dance, she was also known as a very capable and creative piano player,” said her nephew, Stellio Coutsides.

She was active in the Greek Orthodox Church in Cape Town, where she subsequently settled down.

Christie, who was affectionately known as Lea, was buried at Plumstead Cemetery on June 21.

She is survived by her husband, Sozon Christie, brothers Costa and Fivo, and daughters Maroula Lambis, Angie Lambis and Thalia Laric.
