Adding salt to the wound

Water leak is still not resolved.

Water has been streaming from Ampthill Avenue, along Swan Street and into Prince’s Avenue for three months, non-stop.

On June 24, the City Times published an article in which Brian Adams, of the Kleinfontein Cycle Appliance Centre, on Prince’s Avenue, was at his wit’s end and disgusted at the amount of water that was going to waste.

However, the leak that results in water running along Swan and Princes Ávenue has not been repaired and the municipality has rubbed salt in the wound.

On Princes Avenue, a 1,5m hole was dug and left open, posing a danger to for pedestrians, who could fall into it.

The hole has been left open for two weeks.

Adams serves on the Economic Development and Planning portfolio in Kempton Park; the issue has been raised during their monthly meetings, and there is still no joy.

“I intend to go to the Minister of Water Affairs if this problem is not attended to as the water wastage is unbelievable,” said Adams.

He reported the matter on May 9, and was given a reference number – 1054000.

The City Times asked Ekurhuleni for comment on June 6, but, at the time going to press, none had been received.
