Empowering aspiring fashion designers

Fashion Church, an online fashion design platform, offers young, innovative designers the opportunity to showcase their fashion lines.

About 98 per cent of the clothing sold by the online store is locally designed, by 22 up-and-coming designers.

This platform is the brainchild of Mathew Motsweni, a Daveyton entrepreneur, who saw a gap in the market and decided to make use of it.

“I started the online store in February 2013, as I used to attend a number of fashion shows and saw that a lot of people did not have a platform from which to sell their clothes,” said Motsweni.

The designers have an opportunity to showcase their clothes on not only a national platform, but on an international one, too.

“We offer an opportunity to both established and unknown designers, which allows them to grow,” said Motsweni.

He explained that the reference to “church” in the title is dedicated to a meeting place for fashion designers to be creative, grow their brands and change the industry.
