Local pole dancers win national competition
Benita Bouwer, Tammy Smith and Chantal Hall, from Pole Physiques Studio, Benoni, competed in the National Pole Sports Competition 2015 (NPSC15), in the Atterbury Theatre, in Pretoria, on April 11.
NPSC15 was organised by the South African Pole Sports Federation (SAPSF) and is the only competition in South Africa approved by the International Pole Sports Federation (IPSF).
Only the winners in the relevant divisions, with a minimum score of 20 points, receive granted entry into the World Pole Sports Championship 2015 (WPSC15), which will be held in the UK, on July 24 and 25.
Benita Bouwer is the owner of Pole Physiques Studio and her team consists of instructors with national and international dance experience, awards and titles, including Tammy Smith, Dina de Vine, Chantal Hall and Elmarie Allen.
At the recent NPSC15, the team won three of the four categories.
Bouwer placed first in the Elite Masters Division, which qualified her to compete at WPSC15.
She was the highest scoring athlete at NPSC 2015 and is currently ranked first in the world in the Masters over-40 division.
Hall placed first in the Amateur Senior Division. She is event co-ordinator of Polesque (the annual event hosted by Pole Physiques Studio).
Smith placed first in the Elite Senior Division, which qualified her to compete at WPSC15.
She currently ranks 10th in the world in the Senior Women’s Division, and is a pupil at Pole Physiques Studio.
