Frank will be missed

Well known Northmead resident Francisco de Pontes (75), has died.

Frank, as he is widely known, died of pneumonia on Tuesday, December 15, at the Netcare Linmed Hospital.

He was married to Teresa de Pontes for 51 years.

Duerell, his son, said his father was known for owning a variety of fruit and vegetable shops in Benoni and Boksburg.

He also ran a garden service for many years.

Frank was known in the Portuguese community as well as being the manager for Duerell’s band, “Estrelas da Madeira”, which he managed since 1992.

In his younger years, Frank played football and enjoyed boxing.

“We will remember my dad for his personality, his smile and his positivity for life in general,” said Duerell.

“He never complained about anything, he was always full of jokes and was liked by all.”

He is survived by his wife Teresa, children Duerell and Aduan de Pontes and his two grandchildren, Fabio and Marco de Pontes.

Frank’s funeral service will be held at St Patrick’s Catholic Church on December 23, at 10am.

“Just one last chance, we wish we could get to hold you then we would hold you tight and never let go,” said Duerell.
