Local pole artists do it again

Pole athletes from the local Pole Physiques Studio have once again taken the spotlight, winning three divisions at a recent national competition.

Monica Pietroiusti Merifield, Tammy Smith and Benita Bouwer, from Pole Physiques Studio Benoni, reached top spots at The Pole Factor, held in Cape Town in September 2015.

  •  Bouwer took home the Pole Artiste – Professional trophy.
  •  Smith was first place in the category Pole Acrobat – Professional.
  •  Pietroiusti Merifield won the Pole Artiste – Amateur division.

Bouwer is the owner of Pole Physiques Studio and Smith is a fellow instructor at the studio.

Through the competition, Smith and Bouwer both qualified to take part in the Pole Championship Series (PCS) Africa, to be held in Sandton in May.

“The competition will be a glamorous opportunity organised by Arnold Sports Festival and will be the first in Africa,” Bouwer said.

“The winners of the competition will go on to represent South Africa in Brazil in 2017.”
