Is your power still out?
Residents in and around Benoni are still frustrated at the current power outage caused by a fire occurrence at a substation on Pretoria Road early on Sunday (June 5) morning.
Crystal Park, Cloverdene, Rynfield and the Ebotse Golf and Country Estate were without electricity yesterday, with power being restored to some of these areas by this morning.
“Having assessed the situation, we are confident that power will be fully restored in all areas by tomorrow morning,” said Ekurhuleni mayoral spokesperson, Zweli Dlamini on Sunday.
Although Dlamini apologised for the inconvenience, not all areas’ power was restored by Monday morning as he hoped.
The City Times is awaiting an update from the municipality on areas still without electricity and when they would be restored.
Many expressed their annoyance about the power outage on the City Times Facebook page.
“Pathetic service! Now I know why people start burning and destroying,” said Nigel Olifaunt.
“Well that obviously was a lie!!”said Liz Toerien.
“Can we please get an update? Crystal Park still without power,” said Rufus Louwrens.
The municipality said technicians are still on site, and will update members as soon as more information is received.
This is the second blaze at the substation, with another having happened in January.
