Dogs tied up with ropes now at the SPCA
Two dogs that were tied to a fence on short ropes were confiscated from a business premises on September 19.
Benoni SPCA inspector Zama Mabena confiscated the dogs from a property on Du Randt Road, Putfontein.
“Community members reported it to us and then we went there in July and left a warning, but when we did a follow up visit, the dogs were not there,” said Mabena.
On September 15, Mabena discovered the canines were back.
The female cross-Staffordshire terrier and male golden retriever were apparently being used as guard dogs, which were being rented from a security guard who was also employed by the business.
Mabena said only one of the dog had a rope long enough to enter its kennel.
The inspector said the dogs are currently at the Benoni SPCA and are in fair health.
