‘My dream is to be internationally known’
Aspiring model and actress Kayla Greyling has hopes of taking her career to the next level through her upcoming trip to Hollywood in December.
As one of five South Africans invited by Applause Rising Talent Showcase (Arts) to the USA, Kayla hopes to raise enough money to travel to Hollywood.
“She will be representing Benoni on the world stage,” said her mother, Tana Greyling.
“Every parent would love to see their child succeed internationally.”
Through her agency, Just You Model and Artist Management, Kayla looks forward to auditioning in Hollywood.
“I’m more excited than scared by the experience ahead,” she said.
“I’m looking forward to meeting new agents, gaining more experience and hopefully getting a job.”
The Rynfield resident takes pride in her achievements, since she started her acting and modelling career two years ago.
After being approached by her current casting agency, the 17-year-old was asked to participate in the Arts competition while on holiday in Margate. After winning the competition, Kayla travelled to Orlando, Florida in the USA, in August.
There she auditioned for agents, casting directors, managers and record labels from Icon Studios, Sony BMG, Walt Disney Entertainment and Atlantic Records. Excelling in her auditions, Kayla was awarded a one-year scholarship at the New York Film Academy. “That was a great experience for me; I really learnt a lot,” said Kayla.
With her eyes focused on her future goals, she hopes to study in New York and obtain a degree in acting.
Inspired by her favourite actress, Sandra Bullock, Kayla has her heart set on becoming a Hollywood artist: “I would have loved to act in Vampire Diaries or the Big Bang Theory”.
She is urging the public to help make her trip a possibility through funding.
