Teenager killed as car slams into tree and rolls further
A teenager was killed and five others injured in an accident on New Modder Road this morning (March 2).

The accident happened at around 7.25am, a short distance from the intersection with Snake Road.
According to Sanjay Sukdeo, ER24 spokesperson, two of the victims were seriously injured and three others had moderate injuries.
He said the teenager who died had been flung from the car.
“According to witnesses, the light motor vehicle overtook a taxi, but lost control and slammed into a tree,” Sukdeo said.
Sukdeo said the car broke in half after it hit the tree sideways.
“According to witnesses, the driver got out of the car and ran away,” Sukdeo added.
Sukdeo estimated the age of the occupants to be between 14 and 17.
He said all five patients were transported to Sunshine Hospital.
Emer-G-Med spokesperson, Max Cohen* said the car rolled multiple times after colliding with the tree.
“The EMPD’s specialist Accident Reconstruction Unit was at the scene to determine the exact events leading up to the collision,” said Cohen.
