The society meets every last Sunday of the month until October at the Lions Community Hall from 2.45pm to 4.30pm.
East Rand Military History Society (ERMHS) members re-elected their 2019 executive committee, consisting of Peter Griffiths, Verity van Zyl and Richard Schütte, unopposed during their annual general meeting on January 26 at the Lions Community Hall.

During the meeting, there was a screening of a short documentary about the work done by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, which was provided by ERMHS guest speaker Kevin Garcia.
Griffiths said the society is a group of people who have an interest in military history.
“We learn about different historical topics, which include presentations, film screenings, field trips and quizzes,” said Griffiths.
The next meeting will be held on February 23. A presentation about the real Georg von Trapp, whose relationship with Maria von Trapp (née Kutschera) was a core plot element within 1959 Broadway musical The Sound of Music, will be provided by Nick Cowley of the South African Military History Society in Johannesburg.
He added that anyone interested in learning about military history can send an email to chairperson@ermhs.co.za to request a copy of all activities for the year.
The society meets every last Sunday of the month until October at the Lions Community Hall from 2.45pm to 4.30pm.
