Man arrested for being in possession of explosives

A case of being in possession of explosives was opened at the Benoni Police Station.

A 19-year-old man was arrested for being in possession of explosives on February 2 on New Modder road around 7.30pm.

Benoni SAPS spokesperson Capt Nomsa Sekele said the man was arrested by the Crime Prevention Team while patrolling around the area.

“The police spotted a bakkie with about 10 men in the back; they stopped it and search it.”

Sekele said when they conducted the search, one of the men had a bag on his lap which had nine cellphones, blasting cartridges and fuse cables.
