Mayfield resident in need of food during this pandemic

Moses Magoboya is pleading with the councillor to assist the community during this lockdown.

Moses Magoboya from Mayfield Extension One, Putfontein, is seeking for help during this Covid-19 period.

Magoboya told the City Times that he has not seen their local councillor doing justice to their ward and it saddens him to see his fellow community members going through difficulties.

He became a street vendor after he lost his job in December 2019, and it has been hard for him now since he does not have any income to buy the stock

“People are hungry and we are pleading with our ward 96 councillor Stenias Mashala to help us by giving food parcels to the community,”

“I have been lucky enough to get some help from a friend who has been kind enough to assist me with the little she has, but what about those who don’t have anyone but themselves,” said Magoboya.

As the community of Mayfield Extension One, we are pleading to anyone who can assist us with food parcels as we are suffering during this time. Some of the residents are unemployed,? said Magoboya.

Ward 96 Councillor Stenias Mashala said he is not involved in the distribution of food parcels.

Food parcels are being distributed by the Department of Social Development and local NGOs.

As a councillor, I do not know which families have receive food or who has not, he said.

“I only help when a family contacts me and asks for help, and I do that out of my own pocket”

Mashala has offered to buy Magoboya food however, they haven’t decided which day they will go buy food.
