Rynfield business robbed by ‘customers’

The two suspects arrived at the business as they were opening, pretending to be customers

Police are investigating a case of business robbery after a clothing store was robbed in Rynfield on August 4.

Benoni SAPS spokesperson Capt Nomsa Sekele said three employees had just opened the store when two men pretending to be customers walked in, while another stayed at the door.

“When the security guard called them to sanitise before entering the store, one of them showed him a firearm and told him it was a robbery and that he should keep quiet. They then threatened an employee to open the till and stole money.

“They then stole money out of more tills after holding the manager at gunpoint. He was also forced to open the cellphone cabinet from which the robbers stole 35 phones.”

A case of business robbery was opened at the Benoni Police Station.
