Marweshe plans to make Putfontein a safer place
Putfontein Police Station is now under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Frans Marweshe.
Lieutenant Colonel Frans Marweshe is looking forward to serving the community of Putfontein, following his appointment as station commander.
Marweshe said with the implementation of ‘hard policing’ he will make life difficult for criminals.
With 34 years of experience, the veteran police officer takes over from Lieutenant Colonel Wellington Mathiane who recently left the station to join Bedfordiew SAPS.
Marweshe has worked at various police stations in Ekurhuleni including Etwatwa, Norkem Park, Benoni, Crystal Park, Edenvale and Ivory Park and held posts such as the Vispol commander, relief commander, operational commander and commander of the roadblock task team at the Ekurhuleni Central Cluster.
The Brakpan resident said his wealth of managerial experience will assist in drastically decreasing crime in his precinct.
“My strategy is to deal with some of the serious crimes, including house burglary. During the past few weeks, we have seen a spike in burglaries but we are glad that there was a breakthrough because we recently arrested a group of men who have been linked to the crime.
“Two of the suspects were found in possession of stolen property.”
Marweshe described himself as an inquisitive person, who always wants to know what’s happening at the police station and his surroundings.
“I make sure I don’t only delegate everything to my team but also bring a hands-on approach to crime fighting.
“I dedicate my time to be at the station daily and knock off later in the evenings on Friday. On Saturdays and Sundays, I come to the station to check how many dockets have been opened and generally stay up to speed. I am privileged to have a dedicated team.”
The top cop said he plans to strengthen partnerships with the community, security companies, EMPD, Gauteng police, CPF and crime prevention wardens who are force multipliers.
Marweshe admitted though he is ready to fight crime, he cannot do it alone and needs the help of the community.
“My door is open to anyone who wants to report any crime-related incidents. Let’s fight crime together to make our area safer,” said Marweshe.
