Determination pays off in a big way for Future of Africa team
They beat Zizi Royals 2-1 their final match of the season to win the league.
The Future of Africa (FOA) FC’s U19 team secured promotion to the Ekurhuleni Hollywoodbets Regional League after winning the SAFA Ekurhuleni U19 Gold One Regional Development League.
They beat Elsburg side Zizi Royals 2-1 at Germiston Stadium on July 27. The Royals were on top of the log going into the final day of the league,
Club chairperson Mohammed Lawal paid tribute to the players for achieving a goal they set before the start of the season.
“Facing Zizi Royals in their final match, they showed their prowess and teamwork,” Lawal said.
He described the mood leading up to the match as infectious, adding that they were filled with anticipation and excitement at the possibility of a historical moment for the club.
Lawal said the victory was a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved with the Boksburg-based club.
“At the beginning of the season, we set our eyes on the target to win and we have achieved our goal. We are immensely proud of our players, coaches and the entire staff for their incredible efforts and commitment,” he said.
He thanked the club’s supporters for their constant support, saying they were the driving force behind their success.
“As we look forward to competing in the Hollywoodbets League, we carry with us the confidence gained from this remarkable achievement. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our fans, whose continued support has been a source of inspiration and strength.”
Other results
The Boksburg Pirates was one of the teams that gained promotion to the senior Ekurhuleni Hollywoodbets Men’s Regional League at the play-offs held at JC Clemens Stadium in Reiger Park last month.
Pirates will be joined by the tournament winner Luso Africa from Germiston, Brakpan club Golden Boys Academy, TW Milan from Benoni, Tembisa Destroyers Academy and Vrrphaa Nation.
