Laerskool Randhardt comes out tops

The school won the boys' and girls' sections.

Laerskool Randhardt boys’ and girls’ teams clinched the Gauteng East BNP Rising Stars Primary Schools tournament at the Gauteng East Tennis Complex (Geta) on July 27.

The teams raked in a combined seven victories and ended the competition without a single loss to win the tournament honours.

Boys

In the boys’ section, the school thrashed Curro Serengeti 26-1 in the final for the title. Their run included three wins in three matches in the round-robin.

The boys’ champions from Laerskool Randhardt are Connor Roech, Milan Potgieter, Liam Potgieter and Ludwig Bester.

They defeated Laerskool Emfulenipark’s C and D teams 27-0 and 24-3, respectively, and Laerskool Vryheidsmonument 17-10.

Laerskool Emfulenipark C denied St Dunstan’s College a bronze after beating them 20-7 in the third-place play-off.

The St Dunstan Preparatory School’s boys’ team was fourth. They are Dale Kartsounis, Kgosi Modiga, Ryan Fourie and Omphile Sekhute.

Girls

Laerskool Randhardt was dominant in this section, winning four out of four to end the tournament with a perfect record.

St Dunstan’s College were runners-up with three wins and a single loss in their four matches. Their only loss was a 23-4 defeat by Laerskool Randhardt.

The girls’ section winners from Laerskool Randhardt are Mine Visser, Nina Coller, Ava Allen and Marché du Preez.

They beat Laerskool Emfulenipark B 22-5, Laerskool Vyrheidsmonument 22-5 and Laerskool Emfulenipark A 18-9.

• Geta will host its winter tournament from August 16 to win. The closed high and primary schools interprovincial trials are from September 6 to 8.
