AfriSanta comes to town
“Projects such as these reminds us of how small gestures can make big a difference.”
While checking his list, AfriForum Benoni Branch’s Santa decided to pay some of the city’s children, elderly and wet-nosed companions an early visit, to spread Christmas cheer.
Sitting on his sleigh, St Nick travelled far and wide on December 7 delivering gifts and treats to seven children’s homes, an old age home and an animal welfare organisation proving that the branch has the care of its community at heart.
“The annual Christmas Ride was launched in 2020 and has since grown in leaps and bounds,” said Jurie Ferreira, district co-ordinator for the East Rand.
“Through the generous donations from the local community and businesses, Santa’s sleigh made stops at the Abraham Kriel Children’s Home, Endeo Home, Colin House, Thandi House, Sinethemba Children’s Home, iKhaya da Luz Children’s Home, Charis Youth Care Centre, Shady Pines Retirement Home and The Animal Guardians (TAG), delivering hearty donations and treats to each, hoping it would lightening the burden they may encounter during the festive season.”

Stopping along the way, jolly Father Christmas happily posed with the city’s children rewarding their happy smiles with a sweet treat.
“We are grateful for the incredible support of committee members, role players and sponsors, who made yet another successful drive possible,” said Ferreira.
“The love and dedication of our community and partners proves that, together we can make a difference.”
Ferreira thanked everyone for their involvement in the day’s festivities and for ensuring that every recipient felt loved and appreciated.
