Gauteng Angels win gold at NBC
“This outstanding victory is a testament to the dedication and talent of Gauteng's female baseball players."
The Gauteng Angels U15A team recorded a second successive U15 girls’ title after outclassing Western Province in the final at the National Baseball Championships (NBC) in Cape Town.
The five-day event concluded with a thrilling final between the Angels winning the title after dominating the hosts, Western Province U15A 23-2.
This is the Angels’ second beating of Western Province after defeating them 16-9 in last year’s final in Gqeberha to clinch their first national title.
Head coach Jamie Cooper praised the girls for their teamwork and dedication and showcasing exceptional skill, energy and passion on the field.
“This outstanding victory is a testament to the dedication and talent of Gauteng’s female baseball players, hailing from various regions including Benoni, Boksburg, Valhalla, Vaal and Palm Ridge,” said Cooper.
Cooper added that the team’s victory highlighted the growth and excellence of the women’s game in the province.
“We are incredibly proud of our players, who have worked tirelessly to achieve this remarkable feat. This win not only brings recognition to our team but also highlights the growing talent and enthusiasm for women’s baseball in our province.
“This is a significant milestone for women’s baseball in South Africa, and we hope it will inspire more young girls to take up this sport,” he said.
