Benoni Indians players to represent Gauteng at NBC

They are among the players selected to represent the province at the tournament to be hosted in Cape Town.

Over 30 Benoni Indians junior players will represent the Gauteng Province Baseball Council (GPBC) during the national baseball championships in Cape Town from April 1 to 7.

A mixture of U10, U12 and U15 players and U15 girls’ players were selected by the GPBC to try to improve the province’s fortunes after their struggles at last year’s edition of the annual tournament.

The competition will be hosted at the VOB Macaw Baseball and Softball Club.

The youngsters will attempt to help the province get one over arch-rivals, Western Cape, who clinched the U12A, U15A and U18A boys’ trophies at last year’s championships in Gqeberha.

Gauteng’s only gold was won by the U10 boys’ A team while the U15A were runners-up after losing their final to the Western Cape 8-0.
