Operations will continue in an effort to stamp out crime.

Contravention of the immigration act
Three men were arrested on August 22 in Germiston on charges of being in the country illegally.

Possession of drugs
Members of the Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) arrested three suspects found in possession of drugs.

Arrests were made from August 22 to 24. Heroin and Mandrax were seized.

SAPS Rapid Response Services (RRS)
From August 15 to 21, SAPS Rapid Response Services, including the Flying Squad, K9 Units, and Highway Patrol, arrested 110 suspects across Gauteng.

The operation resulted in:
• 52 arrests for serious crimes including assault common with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, possession of suspected stolen property, malicious damage to property, possession of precious metal bearing material, contravention of the immigration act, robbery, defeating the ends of justice, domestic violence, shoplifting, sexual assault, murder, kidnapping, tampering with essential infrastructure, robbery, rape, possession of a dangerous weapon, possession of housebreaking equipment and theft out of motor vehicle.

• Recovery of 41 hijacked and stolen vehicles.
Six arrests were made on charges of being in possession of these vehicles.

• A suspect was arrested for being in possession of unlicensed firearms. Three weapons were seized

• 51 suspects were arrested for possession of drugs with the intent to sell.
Drugs recovered included heroin, dagga, meth, cocaine and Mandrax.

SAPS Water Police and Diving Services (WPDS)
• The decomposing body of an unidentified man was recovered from a water channel in Tsakane, on August 17.

• The body of a missing Windmill Park man, was found in the Wattville Dam, on August 18.
The victim was reported as missing on August 16. His family alleged that he may have drowned as he often visited the dam to pray.

A search was launched after his abandoned vehicle was found in the area; his body was found 40m from the shoreline.
