The Benoni Regional Court has postponed the sentencing of a 42-year-old man accused of killing his partner, Sibongile Mochadibana (39), because the magistrate was unavailable.

The man briefly appeared in court on September 1, when the matter was postponed to September 12. His previous appearance on August 22 was also delayed because his attorney was unavailable.

At the time of the incident, Mochadibana’s mother, her then 10-year-old son (now 13), and her sister’s child were reportedly inside the house.

According to police, the accused fled the scene in Mochadibana’s vehicle and withdrew money from her bank accounts after the attack. Later that night, a tracking company located him and three other men in a veld in Kliprivier, leading to their arrest.

One of them was identified as a traditional healer. The court later acquitted the three men, leaving the accused as the sole suspect in the case.
