Karateka show their mettle at championship

A total of 12 karateka represented the dojo in the competition.

Karateka from the New World Shotokan (NWS) Karate Benoni Dojo showcased their skill and spirit, securing fourth place at the Dojo Cup held at Edenvale Sports Club on September 6.

Despite entering only 12 karateka, the dojo punched above its weight against more than 100 competitors from nine dojos, finishing fourth overall.

Senior instructor, sensei John Barnett (eighth dan) praised his students’ “amazing” performances, saying their determination and skill stood out on the mats against much larger teams.
