Letter: Parent thanks local teacher
A proud parent has penned a message of gratitude to a dedicated Mayfield Primary School teacher, praising his commitment and compassion.
Duduzile Jele writes:
“I would like to send my love and appreciation to the best teacher at Mayfield Primary School.
“Mr Thabethe, thank you for the incredible care, patience and dedication you pour into our children every day. You are not only a teacher to them, but also a parent, a guide, a mentor and a source of comfort.
“The respect, kindness and understanding you show to each child set you apart in a remarkable way. You make every learner feel seen, valued and supported, and that is something truly special.
“We see your hard work, the early mornings, the thoughtful preparation, the extra hours you put in, and the love you invest in helping our children grow. Your commitment goes far beyond what is expected. You make learning exciting, meaningful and enjoyable. You create a safe and welcoming environment where children feel free to express themselves, ask questions and embrace their individuality. Because of you, school becomes more than just a place of learning; it becomes a second home filled with warmth, comfort and encouragement.
“Your passion for education shines through in everything you do. You celebrate each child’s strengths, patiently guide them through challenges and inspire them to believe in themselves. As parents, we are deeply grateful for the role you play in shaping not only their academic progress but also their character, confidence and emotional well-being.
“Please, continue taking care of these little ones with the same dedication and love that you show each day. Your impact reaches far beyond the classroom, and your influence will remain in their hearts for many years to come.
“May God bless you with strength, wisdom, patience and joy as you continue building the future of our children.
“Furthermore, the Gauteng Department of Education must recognise this young man. Teaching is not simply a job for him. It is a true calling, a gift and a purpose. He was born to be a teacher. His humility, passion and natural ability to connect with children deserve to be acknowledged, respected and celebrated at a higher level.
“Great teachers like him shape nations, and his dedication is proof of that.”
