Empower Her Charity fun run postponed to September
Organisers said the decision was made to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all participants
The Empower Her Charity fun run, originally scheduled for Women’s Day on August 10, has been postponed due to unfavourable weather conditions.
The event will now take place on September 24 at Brakpan Airfield, with the start time remaining 08:00.
Organisers said the decision was made to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all participants while still supporting the event’s fundraising goal of providing menstrual cups to schoolgirls.
The 5km fun run and walk, organised by La Belle Empower Her in partnership with Medi-Aktiv and Absolute Aviation, aims to raise funds to help ensure girls do not miss school because they cannot afford menstrual products.
Participants can still look forward to a scenic route around Brakpan Airfield, the opportunity to view aircraft and helicopters, a family-friendly atmosphere and breakfast available at the clubhouse.
Entry fees remain R130 for adults, R65 for children aged six to 12, while children under six may participate free of charge.
Organiser Kerry Matthysen said entries purchased for the original event date will remain valid for September 24. Participants who are unable to attend on the new date may request a refund.
