LETTER: What services are we paying for?

“Enough”, Benoni, writes:
Dear mayor and councillors of Benoni.
I have lived in Benoni for 40 years and have been a taxpayer for that length of time.
I pay for electricity, water, refuse removal, road maintenance, street lights, public area grass cutting and a host of other necessary services but I do not receive them.
I understand that you do not control Eskom and that load-shedding is an evil out of your control, but what about the other services?
What about the services that the council is supposed to supply to residents? What about the B16 area that has no water when load-shedding is taking place?
What about the stinking rubbish that is not collected because the trucks are broken, stolen or whatever the current excuse is?
Where is my money going? When you go to the shop for groceries Ms Mayor, are you content to pay for the groceries but then leave them behind and walk out empty-handed? Is that acceptable?
Where is my money going? Who has my money, because I am not getting anything in return.
This situation has gone on for too long and there is no sign that things are being attended to or remedied.
