Flying squad news in brief
The suspects aged between 37 and 40 will be appearing in court soon.
Routine operations conducted by members of the Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) from June 12 to 17 have led to the arrest of four suspects and the recovery of four abandoned vehicles.
Possession of copper cable
While patrolling the N12, a gold Toyota Fortuner was stopped near the Snake Road off-ramp as part of routine stop and search operations.
“When officers searched the vehicle, they found large bundles of copper wire valued at an estimated R10 000,” said Warrant Officer Grant Giblin, BFS spokesperson.
“The two occupants of the vehicle could not supply members with valid documentation, which would warrant their possession of the cables. They were arrested and charged with possession of suspected stolen goods.”
Possession of drugs
Two suspects were arrested in Kempton Park, when they were found in possession of drugs.
Cocaine was recovered.
Abandoned vehicles
Four abandoned vehicles were recovered.
These were a white Nissan NP300 in Actonville, a white Fuso truck in Kempton Park, a white Hino truck in Benoni as well as a white Toyota Quantum in Ivory Park. All the vehicles were reported as stolen.
