Flying squad arrests 11

The suspects were dismantling the truck to sell the parts as scrap metal.

A four-day routine operation, by members of the Benoni Flying Squad (BFS), between August 16 to 19 led to the arrest of 11 suspects.

Officers swooped on a property in De Deur, Mpumalanga, on August 8 after receiving information about a stolen truck trailer spotted in the area.

“The truck and trailer had been reported as stolen at the Phola Police Station,” said Warrant Officer Grant Giblin, the BFS spokesperson.

The suspects were in the process of dismantling the trailer when they were caught.

“Upon arrival, officers found four suspects dismantling the trailer and cutting the parts up for scrap metal.”
The BFS arrested the suspects (aged 30 to 47) and took the trailer to De Deur.

Seven suspects, aged between 20 and 36, were arrested on charges of being in possession of drugs.
The BFS made the arrests in Thembisa, Actonville and Kempton Park, recovering Heroin, Mandrax and crystal meth.

Their investigations continue.
