It’s a disgrace

Sally Grant writes by email:

What has happened to Benoni CBD and Western Extension?

Everyday, I, along with some other residents, pick up the rubbish left lying on our pavements by passersby.

There are rubbish bins provided, but for what – they are not used!

And not to mention the rats!

I have put down rat poison to no avail – not to mention the damage that has been caused to my appliances and goods stored in my garage. This is not on.

It was mentioned by the town councillor that owners, whose gardens and pavements were constantly littered with rubbish, and in a general mess, would be fined.

Was this all talk? The same goes for the evictions of drug lords and prostitutes – nothing has been done.

This is not acceptable and why must the honest and hardworking citizens of Benoni have to put up with this.

We pay the municipality to have our rubbish removed and tenants don’t pay for this service, yet they are the cause of most of our problems.

Can something be done about these issues? And we mean done, and not just talk!
