Actonville eye strong second half

Captain Clayton August and the Actonville Spurs Cricket Club’s Premier XI will get their first match of the second half of the Eastern Premier League on Sunday, January 11.

The team hosts second-placed Boksburg outfit CBC Old Boys at Lord’s Cricket Grounds in Actonville and will be hoping to improve on the current impressive third position achieved during the first half of the competition.

With the likes of semi-professional Easterns player Imraan Manack, prodigious youngster Mekyle Pillay and senior seam bowler Theo Naidoo in their squad, the club is striving to make a massive charge during the second period of the season.

  • Meanwhile, league leaders Benoni Northerns Cricket Club’s (BNCC) Premier XI will enjoy a bye-week on Sunday before they return to action against Tembisa at home on Sunday, January 18.
  • The Eastern Cricket Union’s Saturday First, Second, Third, Fourth and Fifth leagues will raise the curtain of the second half of the local cricket season when matches are played on Saturday, January 10.
