Lake Club’s swans soar at club champs
The ever magnificent Lake Club Benoni golf course hosted their 2016 Club Championships recently.
A total of 192 club members vied for the top spots in the various divisions.
Even though most Highveld courses had suffered from the severe drought this summer, the course played superbly and many fine scores were posted over the two weekends.
The women’s silver division was won by Candice Wort, with a fine gross score of 154, with Veronica Tredoux taking the bronze division and Jennifer Nel the copper division.
After a titanic struggle with some young guns on the final nine, Michael “Splash” Kok became Lake Club Champion for 2016, with a magnificent six-under-par score (69, 69).
He held off Kyle Opperman on two-under (68, 74) and Chase Paton on one-under par (70, 73).
The B-Division title was claimed by Martin Blignaut and the C-Division by Malcolm Kretzschmar.
