The Gone Girl returns in a wicked way

How would you react if your wife went missing and everyone was looking to you for answers?

Nick Dunne, played by Ben Affleck in the movie Gone Girl, is naturally concerned when his wife, Amy Dunne, portrayed by Rosamund Pike, disappears from their home.

However, Nick’s cool and collected persona leads you to question whether he is in fact hiding something from authorities investigating the mysterious disappearance of his wife.

The movie slowly drags you into believing Nick knows a lot more about the enigma than he is letting on.

He cooperates fully with police, but suspicion arises when notes bearing clues, indicating places of hidden items which will implicate him, are discovered by him and the police.

He further raises suspicion when he tries to hide them from the police.

All fingers point to Nick when he runs away from a vigil for his wife, after it’s revealed that she was pregnant with his child.

He decides to hire hot-shot lawyer Tyler Perry, who takes on the name of Tanner Bolt.

Nick comes clean about the affair he is having with one of his young students, Andie Hardy, played by Emily O’Hara Ratajkowski – but it’s too late – the young student breaks the silence on national television before Nick can.

Even more eyes are focused on him, but he has a hunch his wife is alive – seeking revenge for his infidelity.

Amy has, however, been plotting to win her unfaithful husband back, in a conniving and bloody way – one Nick will not be able to escape.

He is caught in a web, unable to escape the claws of his possessive wife and unable to reject her when she finally rocks up at their home, still covered in blood.

Why is Nick unable to turn away from his estranged wife?

How is Amy able to regain his trust after her attempts to frame him for her murder?

Gone Girl, which is two and a half hours long, is packed with wicked twists and excitement to help you through these illusive questions.

It is a story of deceit, murder and a determined woman who has removed herself from her husband’s life, only to win him back in the most unexpected way.

Will her skull eventually be crushed?

Do not miss this compelling movie, which is currently showing at Ster-Kinekor Northmead Square.
