Antiques cause a stir

The Community Chest's Treasure Chest event was a hit among Berea residents.

BEREA residents took family heirlooms and antique collectibles to be valued by experts at the Ubuntu Community Chest’s Treasure Chest event on Wednesday 4 November at Berea Congregational Church.

Experts for the morning were Adrian Johannsson of Davenport Antiques, who valued art, clocks, watches, militaria and unusual items, Frank Chemaly, an independent antique dealer, who valued silver, metalware and glass items, and Michael Bullick of Michael’s Collectibles, Rosehurst, who assessed porcelain and ceramic items.

A few interesting pieces were appraised on the day, including an old diving helmet, which caused quite a stir!
