THE Durban Girls’ High School junior debating team took the honours at the Durban Coastal Debating League.
The young debaters took on a team from St Mary’s and proved to be the better team on the day. The awards ceremony was held at the Durban Botanic Gardens where winning team members Sabrina Govender, Priya Moodley and Sohêla Surajpal were thrilled to receive their prize. Other prizes handed out included the award for the top junior sepaker in the league, Maxine Khumalo (Grade 9), and Emma Spencer (Grade 9). Emma Spencer made it into the top five junior speakers while Ayabonga Sithole (Grade 11) made it into the top 5 senior speaker league.
