Young scientist excels

Glenwood Prep's Farah Shaik excelled at a recent science expo.

GRADE seven Glenwood Preparatory School pupil, Farah Shaik recently participated in and won the Primary School division of the Glenwood High School Science Expo.

She impressed the judges with her progressive topic choice, impeccable project presentation and thorough content knowledge.

Farah worked independently on her project for about two months preceding the Glenwood High Expo.

Following this success, Farah participated in the Eskom Science Expo held in August at UKZN. Farah was among an estimated 300 pupils ranging from Grade 7 to Grade 12 and was awarded a gold medal and certificate.

Her project was judged to be the Best Primary School Chemistry Project, winning a voucher for the school to purchase Science equipment to the value of R2000.

Farah’s interest in the field of sun-protection stems from both parents being in the medical field, as well as the increasing threat of skin cancer from over-exposure to the sun.
