Eden cares

Pupils at Eden College bring a smile to Cato Manor families devastated by fire.

AFTER the devastating fire at Cato Manor where 100 families lost their homes, one of the teachers at Eden College, Mrs Mazzoni, decided to do a drive to collect items for those who had lost everything in the fire.

She asked pupils to go home and clean out their cupboards or ask their parents to give them anything they no longer used, from clothing and shoes to bedding, towels, crockery or cutlery, anything that these families could use.

The support from the school was amazing. Mrs Mazzoni, together with a group of pupils, gathered the enormous amount of goods they had collected and took them to Cato Manor’s Ward 4 Head, Mr Nathi Sithole. Sithole had arranged for some of the families to be there to receive the goods. The generosity of the pupils at Eden College helped around 10 families who were absolutely overwhelmed and extremely grateful. Eden College challenges other schools to also do a Spring Clean, and do their own collections of goods that can perhaps help the other 90 families who lost all their belongings in the fire. If anyone would like to make donations of items, please contact Mr Sithole who will arrange for families to receive them. His number is 0725016121.
