MORE than R120 000 worth of drugs was recovered by members of the Durban Flying Squad who carried out a joint intelligence-driven operation in the Durban CBD recently.

Police entered a flat at Albany Grove and recovered 331 grams of cocaine and 13 full moons of rock cocaine. The total estimated street value of the drugs recovered is R122 000.

It is alleged the suspect who owned the drugs, left before police arrived. However, he is known and is expected to be arrested soon.

KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni commended the members for the recovery of the drugs. “If we had not seized this consignment of drugs, it would have most surely ended up on our streets and contributed to an increase in crime. We request members of the community to contact police with information of criminal activities in their areas or contact Crime Stop 08600 10111,” she said.
