Penzance pupils bring home medals

Penzance Primary School pupils took part in the SEMAS national championships and returned home with three gold and one silver medal.

SOROBAN Education and Mental Arithmetic System (SEMAS) held its national championships in Gauteng in October which saw 66 children from KwaZulu-Natal take part. Penzance Primary was represented by four children and one child from Penzance Pre Primary.

Jesse Buys (Grade 3) came received a gold medal in the SKF national exam; Lloyd Milligan (Grade 4) received a gold medal in the PAMA C national exam; Andrew Fryer (Grade 5) earned a silver medal in the mini national exam and Kaylen Behari (Grade 5) won a gold medal in the PAMA D national exam. All four pupils have been invited to work towards qualifying for the 2014 PAMA INternational competition to be hosted in South Africa next year. Lloyd Milligan willt ake part int he PAMA competition in Hong Kong in December this year.
