St Henrys pays tribute to fallen heroes

Staff, pupils and alumni of St Henry's Marist College pay tribute to the fallen at a Remembrance Day service at the school this week.

EIGHTEEN alumni of St Henry’s Marist College shouldered arms in the 1939/1945 global conflict and never returned home.

Remembering them, along with the dead of many other conflicts, some of which rage today, the Marist community gathered on Monday 11 November at the Memorial Bell Tower in the College quad.

The gathering also remembered the Marist Brothers who have taught at the College and who have died.

As the Grade 8 classes study the First World War in their history lessons, a number of them dressed in the uniforms of the military and other services to read poems, lay wreaths and to sound the Last Post and the Rouse as part of the Remembrance Day service.
