Penzance raises funds to show it cares
Pupils at Penzance Primary take giving seriously and raised R65 000 for charity this year.
THE fourth term is all about giving at Penzance Primary School. This year the school decided to raise money for Hope House Pinetown, Hillcrest Aids Centre, St Philomena’s Children’s Home, Bobby Bear Foundation and Toy Story.
Using their own inititiave, the pupils embarked on a number of fundraising activities including hosting cake sales, selling raffle tickets and running competitions.
“It is wonderful to see how all the girls get together to bake at each other’s homes to raise money. We had a little grade one girl who went on an outing to a touch rugby tournament and asked her mom if she could sell some juice at this event in support of the Penzance Cares campaign,” says Michelle Bruin, marketing/PR officer at Penzance Primary School.
Many of the parents got involved to the support Penzance Cares initiatives. Penzance raised R35000 at its recent Achievers Dinner where an auction was held in aid of anti-poaching.
“In total we have raised R65 000 which we used to purchase items needed by the charities we chose to help,” said Bruin.
